Accessibility and Accommodations

Unum Group is committed to providing reasonable accommodations for applicants with disabilities. If you need assistance during the application or hiring process, you may request support at https://www.unum.com/lp/contact-recruiting.

Depending on the role, your next step may include:

  • An online skills or behavioral assessment
  • A short, pre recorded video interview completed at your convenience

These tools help us understand your communication style, decision making, and approach to workplace scenarios. Our Talent Acquisition team then reviews assessment results alongside your application to determine next steps.

If your background aligns with the role, a Talent Acquisition Consultant will reach out to schedule an initial conversation, typically 30–45, minutes via phone or video. This discussion may include:

  • Behavioral and situational questions
  • Questions about your experience, strengths, and career goals
  • Information about the role, expectations, and team culture
  • Time for you to ask questions about Unum Group, our values, flexibility, and what success looks like

In some cases, assessments or video interviews may occur before or after this conversation depending on the role’s requirements.

If you advance, we’ll schedule interviews with hiring managers and business partners — virtually, in person, or a hybrid format, depending on the role. Interviews may be:

  • One‑on‑one conversations
  • Panel interviews
  • Sequential interviews with multiple team members

You’ll learn about day‑to‑day responsibilities, team culture, work style, and expectations. Our goal is to make interviews conversational and informative which helps us understand your skills while giving you insight into the role and the team you may join.

These interviews typically explore:

  • Your interest in the role
  • Your strengths and professional experience
  • How you collaborate, learn, and navigate challenges
  • Role‑specific or technical knowledge (when applicable)

In some cases, we may also include a brief skills or strengths assessment as part of the interview process. These assessments help us better understand how you work, solve problems, and align your experience with the role.

Candidates applying for early career rotational or leadership development programs may be invited to an Assessment Day, which may include:

  • Conversations with senior leaders
  • Leadership focused exercises or group activities
  • Behavioral interviews
  • A brief writing assignment or short presentation
  • Opportunities to meet current program associates

This experience helps you understand the program and helps us evaluate your potential and leadership mindset. If Assessment Day isn’t part of the role, your process may move directly from interviews to offer.

Following interviews (and Assessment Day, if applicable), our Talent Acquisition team will update you on next steps.

  • If you are not selected, you’ll typically receive an email update.
  • If you completed interviews, you may receive direct outreach from a recruiter.
  • Candidates not selected remain part of our broader talent community and are encouraged to apply for future opportunities aligned to their skills.

If selected, your recruiter will share an offer package that includes:

  • Compensation
  • Benefits
  • Start date options
  • Any other role specific details

All offers are contingent on the successful completion of required pre employment steps (e.g., background check). After accepting the offer, you'll receive clear onboarding instructions and guidance for your first day.
